Admissions Connect Components: Admissions Connect comes with custom components that are used in the Lightning record pages provided with Admissions Connect. Some components are available in Lightning App Builder as well as Experience Builder. Use this article as reference when creating new pages or if you want to know more about the components.
Set Up Admissions Connect App Basics: Get started with the Admissions Connect app by assigning the default Lightning record pages and setting up the navigation menu.
Import Your Data into Admissions Connect: Admissions Connect gives you a complete view into your institution’s recruiting and admissions experience—from information about prospects and applicants, like their education history, to information about your institution, like degree programs and terms.
Create Users for Admissions Connect: Every person who uses Admissions Connect must have a User record in Salesforce. How you create your User records depends on who will be using Admissions Connect. Admissions staff or other people who work for your institution are internal users. These users can only use the Admissions Connect app. People who don’t work for your institution, like alumni reviewers or applicants, are external users. These users can only use an Experience Cloud portal.
Admissions Connect Default Page Configurations: Admissions Connect provides default page layouts, compact layouts, Lightning record pages, and other assets for many of the objects that the app uses. Most assets are unmanaged, which means you don't receive updates automatically. Use the information in this article to keep up-to-date with releases.

When building your portal, refer to the Admissions Connect Components reference for a list of components that are supported in Experience Builder.
Learn About Admissions Connect Portals: Portals, also called Experience Cloud sites or Communities, are a great way to give users access to just what they need in an easy-to-use web page. For example, you can limit access for some application reviewers, like external users who are alumni, because they don’t need access to Cases, Opportunities, and other Salesforce records. Or maybe you want to create an applicant portal to let applicants view, edit, and submit their Application.
Create an Admissions Connect Portal and Set Up the Basics: Set up an Admissions Connect portal using the prebuilt template or a template that you created from another Experience Cloud site, and review the site's settings to ensure that it suits your institution’s needs.
Get Ready to Install Admissions Connect: Review the data requirements and considerations, and complete the prerequisites before you install Admissions Connect.

Learn About Action Plans: Understand what Actions Plans are and how you can use them in Admissions Connect to define application requirements.
Plan Your Application Requirements: Your Application Material Mappings are the overall plan for how your Application requirements appear. Think of the mapping records as a table of contents for an Application. We recommend that you plan all of your application requirements before creating any Action Plan Template or Application Material Mapping records. A good plan will make your implementation go smoother and faster. A spreadsheet can be a great planning tool.
Quick Start Asset Reference List: Admissions Connect provides sample assets to help you get started with Action Plans and other configurations. Modify these assets to work for your institution, or clone them for a quick start. Here’s a list of the sample assets we provide.
Set Up Application Requirements and Action Plans: Define the document types that applicants can upload, the fields and information that are visible to applicants, and the application requirements. Then, configure how to implement these elements together in the Admissions Connect components.
Configure Application Review Assignment: Application Reviews can be assigned using automation or manually from the Application or Application Review record pages. You can even use a mass action from the Application list view to select multiple Applications and assign multiple reviewers. Most institutions use a combination of automation and manual assignment.
Set Up Quick Document Verification: Let verifiers and other members of your admissions staff verify application documents directly from the Application Checklist and Reviewer Application Reader components or the Document Checklist Item record page. From the Document Checklist Item record page, admissions staff can also upload new versions of documents and automatically see the updated document in the preview.
Admissions Connect Security: To specify objects and fields users can access, use permission sets and profiles. Use organization-wide sharing settings to specify the individual records that users can view and edit.
Assign the Admissions Connect Permission Sets: Admissions Connect provides permission sets to help you manage access to objects, fields, and the app. Permission sets are additive—they only grant access, they can’t take it away. You can assign multiple permission sets as needed, and it doesn't matter what profile a user has. Keep in mind that Users can have only one profile, but they can have multiple permission sets.
Configure Sharing Settings for Admissions Connect: Your organization-wide default sharing settings give you a baseline level of access for each object and enable you to extend that level of access to your Admissions Connect users.
Set Up the Admissions Connect App: Streamline application reviews, increase applicant engagement, and facilitate collaboration across institutions with the Admissions Connect app. Configure the navigation, record pages, and more, to suit your institution’s needs.
Set Up a Portal: Set up an Admissions Connect portal so that unauthenticated guest users can interact with your institutions. For example, create a portal for applicants to upload documents and check on their application status, or for alumni to connect with one another.

This approach lets you expose different data sets to different groups of users. For example, admissions directors typically have more permissions than a reviewer or verifier.
Admissions Connect Territories: Use Enterprise Territory Management to assign territories, track success metrics, and build relationships with prospective students. Recruiters can use reports to identify relationships to prioritize and to better engage with prospective students.
Add a Reviewer: You can quickly add a reviewer directly from the Application or Application Review record pages. Or you can use the Application list view to select multiple Applications and assign multiple reviewers.

Review Applications: When you review an application, you make an admissions recommendation and leave supporting comments. Use a list view as your starting point, either for Applications or Application Reviews. You can use the default My Application Reviews list view, one created by your admissions team, or one that you created.
Verify Applications: When you verify an application, you check for overall completeness, looking at the data and documents provided by the applicant. You’ll probably look at transcripts, letters of recommendation, and more. Use an Applications list view as your starting point, then open individual application records. You can use the default All list view, one created by your admissions team, or one that you created. as your starting point, then open individual application records. You can use the default All list view, one created by your admissions team, or one that you created.

Assign Requirements: You can assign requirements directly from an application. Say an applicant makes a mistake or changes their mind about what degree program to apply for. That might mean additional requirements are needed. Or maybe your institution handles a small amount of applications and you assign requirements individually.
Verify Your Admissions Connect Staff Review Setup: Configure list views to stay on top of applications and learn how to add reviewers to manage applications. Reviewers can then verify or upload documents and make the final admission decision.

Every gift batch has an associated template that defines a set of fields and their display order in a gift entry. Fundraising provides a default template, and you can create customized templates to meet your unique gift entry needs.
Add a Gift Commitment in Education: Create a record for a one-time pledge, a multipayment gift, or an open-ended recurring gift, including the schedule, amount, and gift designations of the donor’s choice. If someone influenced the donor to give, you can log gift soft credits directly on the commitment page. You can connect the gift to a campaign or opportunity and allocate the gift for a particular designation.
Create Gift Designations in Education: Specify how donors want their donation to be spent. You can identify a gift designation that's used for all unrestricted gifts and set it as the org-wide default before you begin entering gifts in Fundraising.
Create Outreach Source Codes for a Campaign in Education: Enhance your campaign management by using outreach source codes to track each appeal of a campaign with details about audience and outreach methods. Salesforce streamlines the creation of source codes, significantly reducing manual entry errors, and improving consistency across campaigns. Marketers can now dedicate more time to strategic campaign planning, ensuring better reporting accuracy and overall campaign effectiveness.

Create a Gift Entry in Nonprofit: There are two methods of performing gift entry. The method that comes built in Fundraising is the Gift Entry window. In this window, you can quickly and easily create a gift with a gift transaction or a gift commitment. The gift can also include soft credits or multiple designations. The second method is to use the Gift Entry Grid. This method enables the lightning-fast entry of gifts in a table by keying across the cells to enter the gift information. You can enter all aspects of the gift in the grid, including the recurring gift commitment, outreach source code, campaign, designations, and soft credits.
Create a Gift Transaction in Nonprofit: Create a gift transaction for a one-time gift payment, an installment of a gift commitment, if an installment doesn’t exist, or for a non-revenue gift. Create a Gift Batch in Nonprofit: Quickly add multiple gift entries that use the same set of fields by creating a gift batch and process the collection of gift entries together. Every gift batch has an associated template that defines a set of fields and their display order in a gift entry. Fundraising provides a default template, and you can create customized templates to meet your unique gift entry needs.
Add a Gift Commitment in Nonprofit: Create a record for a one-time pledge, a multipayment gift, or an open-ended recurring gift, including the schedule, amount, and gift designations of the donor’s choice. If someone influenced the donor to give, you can log gift soft credits directly on the commitment page. You can connect the gift to a campaign or opportunity and allocate the gift for a particular designation.

Standard Field Mapping for Legacy Recurring Donations: When NPSP creates child Opportunity records for a Recurring Donation, it copies the value of several fields from the Recurring Donation onto the Opportunity records. This is a big time saver, as it means you don't have to manually enter values for all those fields on each Opportunity record.
Legacy Recurring Donations versus Opportunity Payments: The term "Recurring Donations" in the nonprofit world often brings to mind a donor who has committed to giving a financial gift to your organization multiple times. In the Nonprofit Success Pack, you can track this type of donation in different ways.
NPSP Reporting and Analytics: Learn how to manage and customize reports. Best practices to ensure that your reports are well designed and reliable as well as how to leverage ready-made NPSP reports and Tableau dashboards.
NPSP Reports Workbook: This guide introduces nonprofit administrators to the NPSP reports and demonstrates how you can customize the reports to meet your organization's needs.
Required Configuration: If you installed Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) from the installer, perform these configuration steps to make NPSP function as intended.
Rollups Overview: Rollup fields are custom fields that display information from other related records, including aggregate totals. To think of this another way, rollup fields allow information from Opportunities or Payments to automatically "roll up" and appear on a related Account, Contact, General Accounting Unit, or Recurring Donation records.
Run a Health Check in Your Org: Health Check looks through your org for both data and configuration inconsistencies or errors and reports back the type of error along with a description.
Schedule a Batch: Now that you'll be regularly uploading files, you don't want to worry about manually processing them. This is really useful for cases like the upcoming event signup example, where you have signups coming in at different times, and you want to regularly upload the new signups.
Set Fiscal Year Rollups: NPSP supports rollups and reports based on your organization's fiscal year, as long as you configure your fiscal year according to the instructions below.
Set Required Admin Permissions to Manage NPSP Settings: Almost all Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) configuration is managed from the NPSP Settings tab. In NPSP Settings, you can change key NPSP behaviors, turn on NPSP features, run a system health check, and view error logs. System admins and users with a profile containing the necessary permissions can access the NPSP settings.
Soft Credits Overview: Soft credits are a fundraising concept that represent recognition of credit for donations. Soft credits help you to better understand a donor's history and their level of influence.
Manage Special Gift Types: Work with matching gifts, In-Kind Gifts, Grants, Memberships, and Tribute Gifts in the Nonprofit Success Pack.
Specify a Preferred Phone Number and Email Address for a Contact: Salesforce comes out-of-box with one email and one phone field. This is a great start, but often people have more than one phone and email. NPSP adds several custom phone and email fields, so that you can track a Contact's business and personal emails, as well as mobile, office, and home phones. NPSP also lets you specify a Preferred Email and Preferred Phone.
Standard NPSP Data Import Fields: This article includes reference information about the fields in the NPSP Data Import object, the mapping to target NPSP objects, and information about columns in the NPSP Data Importer Templates.
Tableau with NPSP: Tableau Dashboards for Nonprofit Fundraising combine the power of NPSP and Tableau, providing three ready-made dashboards for insights on your revenue, donors, campaigns, and more.
Test Customizable Rollups in your Sandbox: Before enabling Customizable Rollups in your Production org, we highly recommend testing and validating the results in a Full or Partial Sandbox. The best way to validate rollup values after enabling Customizable Rollups is to use field history tracking.
Customize Advanced Mapping: Customize Advanced Mapping for data import if you want to map data into an object or field that hasn't yet been mapped.
User Defined Rollups (Legacy): Review the basics of legacy user defined rollups. Create a user defined rollup and use formula fields to include or exclude fields in your rollups calculations.
Verify Data Upload: Make sure the data from your template uploaded successfully to the NPSP Data Import custom object.
Verify Your Upload with Dry Run: Once you import records into NPSP, you can't hit the undo button. And that can be problematic if you accidentally import records that you had previously imported, resulting in duplicate records in your org. It can also be problematic if the wrong record is matched and you've updated it with data from a different record. Doing a dry run allows you to see if there are any potential matches before you import.
View NPSP Errors: Use the error log in NPSP settings to learn more about issues in your org.
What are Campaigns and How Do They Work?: Nonprofits use Campaigns to plan and track fundraising appeals, solicitations, events, advocacy campaigns, and other outreach activities.

Why and How to Use Leads: Leads are more temporary than Contacts. Use Leads to record that someone may be interested in interacting with your organization. Once you're confident the person is going to donate, volunteer, or engage with your organization in some way, convert that Lead to a Contact or Account.

Without this flow, the application can’t be submitted to your organization for review.
Upgrade Outbound Funds Module: If you were an early adopter of Outbound Funds Module and are using a version prior to 1.15, the Funding Request object has a master-detail relationship to the Funding Program object. This relationship was updated in version 1.15 (released July 2019) to be a lookup relationship that allows for greater flexibility and scalability.

Activate Your Site: You already activated your site when you created it. But it never hurts to double check.
Configure Object and Field Permissions in Public Access Settings: The last step in configuring data access is making sure your Site's public access settings give permission to read, create, and edit the dozen or so objects that Volunteers for Salesforce needs to do its job.
Set Up Your Salesforce Site: The first step on the website integration adventure is to set up your Salesforce Site. It's a quick process. Ready? Let's jump in!
Introduction: After you've created a Site, configure the data access settings so that volunteers can interact with your Site's contents.
Decide Which Pages to Add to Your Website: Which Volunteers for Salesforce pages do you want to make available on your website? Pick and choose the ones that make sense. They work independently of each other.
Website Integration—A Tag Team Event: Use Salesforce features and tools and streamline working with your web developer to integrate your website.
Test and Review Configurations: Create test data to check your configuration and review the workflow rules to make sure they are what you need for your organization.
Manage Volunteers: Understand which objects you use to manage volunteers and how to set up people, skills, and shifts. Access prebuilt reports and dashboards that show your organization’s volunteering activities.
Create a Campaign: The Campaign is the top level of your volunteer structure. You can either create a Campaign manually or use the wizard.
Create Jobs: Jobs represent the next level down in your structure. Before you start creating Jobs, it's a good idea to jot down exactly what Jobs and Shifts you need to fill.
Create an Ongoing Job: When you have Jobs with multiple Shifts occurring in the future, you need an easy way to automate the creation of those Shifts. (It would be tedious to manually enter each one!) Volunteers for Salesforce' Job Recurrence Schedules do the work for you.
Create Job Shifts: If there are multiple dates or times when you need volunteers for a Job, you can set up Shifts so you can track which volunteers are coming when.
Volunteers for Salesforce and Your Salesforce Instance: Volunteers for Salesforce uses some standard Salesforce objects—Contacts and Campaigns—to manage volunteers. Volunteers for Salesforce also introduces custom objects into your Salesforce org.
Why it Matters: Volunteers are critical to many nonprofits. Volunteers for Salesforce gives you a way to manage your relationships with them.
Manage, Track, and Assign Volunteers: There are multiple ways to assign volunteers to Shifts, including allowing volunteers to sign up directly from your website (more on that in Sign Up for a Job Shift.) You can also sign up volunteers yourself by assigning them to Shifts in Volunteers for Salesforce.
Plan a One-Time Event: You can plan your one-time event as you wish, but we have some steps that we think will help.

You can use the Volunteers for Salesforce Volunteer Recurrence Schedule to easily set up a recurring schedule for a regular volunteer. You can specify when the schedule starts and ends, and which days of the week and month the volunteer wants to work.
Track Volunteer Participation with Reports and Dashboards: Volunteers for Salesforce includes reports and dashboards that provide a ton of useful information about your volunteer program. You can use these reports and dashboards to analyze volunteer trends so that you can decide where to focus your volunteer efforts. Volunteers for Salesforce includes more than 25 reports and one dashboard.
Stay in Touch with your Volunteers: An important part of attracting and retaining good volunteers is making sure they feel connected to your organization and appreciated by the people who work there. Imagine signing up to volunteer for an event months before it happens, but never receiving a reminder. Or spending time volunteering at an event, but never receiving acknowledgment of your time or a simple thank you note. Appreciating your volunteers by staying in touch is key to ensuring that they come back to volunteer again.
Track and Identify Your Volunteers: In Volunteers for Salesforce, Contact records are highly important because they are used to track all of your volunteers—active, inactive, and prospective. Each Contact record contains a volunteer's phone, email, and address, their special skills, the days and times they're available to volunteer, their volunteer status, and a Volunteer Hours related list where you can see how many hours they've committed to your organization.
Engage Volunteers on your Website: This section assumes your Administrator integrated Volunteers for Salesforce with your website. And we sure hope they did! Using Volunteers for Salesforce with your website provides the opportunity for volunteers to visit your website and see a calendar of the Job and Shift offerings you entered in Volunteers for Salesforce. Not only can they see the calendar or a list of Job offerings, but they can sign up right from the page and that information will be saved in Volunteers for Salesforce.

Create Job Position Qualifications: After you create a job position, create qualifications to make sure that volunteers meet the requirements for the job position. Job position qualifications are additive and apply only to the specific job position. Set qualifications to help you determine who's the right volunteer for the job.
Create Job Position Shifts: A job position shift is a specific work shift that’s associated with a job position or a related recurrence schedule. After developing a volunteer initiative and creating job positions for it, create work shifts that volunteers who meet the position qualifications can fill.

After you’ve mapped your objects, you can take advantage of Data Cloud’s tools and analytics and combine your Salesforce data with additional data streams for a complete view of your organization’s stakeholders.
Match Volunteers to Volunteer Initiative Job Positions and Shifts: Find volunteers by using smart matching criteria to search for the right volunteers for an initiative’s job position and job position shifts. The matching criteria include qualifications, shift or date-and-time range, location. Intelligently matched volunteers are the closest fit for the open shifts of a volunteer initiative and position.

Track and view volunteers, jobs, shifts, and more, all in one location, making it easy to match volunteers’ skills and availability with the right opportunities. Create a site that constituents can use to find volunteer opportunities and sign up for shifts, and that saves the data in Salesforce.
Volunteers for Salesforce (Managed Package) Release Notes: Volunteers for Salesforce pages are now compliant with the color contrast requirements of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. The compliance improves accessibility for users who find it difficult to differentiate between some color combinations.
