To support education-specific operations at scale, the student information system rules framework uses:
- Context Definitions
Context definitions ensure efficient data access at every step of the process.
- Expression Sets
Expression sets calculate business rules using connected steps built from variables, constants, conditions, calculations, lookups, and aggregations.
- About Automation with Salesforce Flow
Salesforce Flow tools help you quickly set up and change automation solutions.
- Batch Management
Batch Management helps companies optimize business processes that handle a high volume of standard and custom object records.
For a typical process, the steps involved in the framework are:
- A screen flow, Omniprocess, or Lightning web component triggers a platform event, such as a grade point average (GPA) calculation or eligibility check for an academic term registration timeline.
- The platform event triggers an event-triggered flow.
- The event-triggered flow engages the batch management framework.
- The batch management framework engages an auto-launched flow.
- The flow runs an invocable action to get batch jobs by ID.
- The flow runs another invocable action to run an expression set (policy rule) by ID.
Note You can customize and use the invocable action, ExecuteExprSetWithContext, available with Education Cloud. - The expression set with a predefined context definition calculates the results.
- A business element configured in the expression set stores the log of the calculation run.
- The logs are shown on a custom UI component based on Decision Explainer.
Customize the rules framework based on your institution’s processes and specific requirements.
