If you're using the three- or four-object model, keep in mind where fund account allocation data is stored.

  • In a three-object accounting set, the secondary object represents allocations of fund accounts to the source record, with an amount for each allocation.
  • In a four-object accounting set, the tertiary object specifies both an amount for the allocation and the fund that it's allocated to. The secondary object represents the individual amounts of a group of related payments or expenses (such as for a recurring gift or donation). And each of these individual amounts is the parent of the corresponding allocation.

Use your current process to manage your allocation amounts. We recommend that the total allocation amount equal the amount of the parent record, to ensure consistency when generating accounting records. See Object Models for Accounting Sets.
