# Considerations for Updating Allocations

Adjust fund allocations according to the accounting sets' object model.

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small " summary="REQUIRED EDITIONS"><caption>REQUIRED EDITIONS</caption> <colgroup><col style="width:100%"></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: Lightning Experience</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>Enterprise</strong>, <strong>Performance</strong>, <strong>Unlimited</strong>, and <strong>Developer</strong> Editions with Accounting Subledger</td></tr></tbody></table>

If you're using the three- or four-object model, keep in mind where fund account allocation data is stored.

- In a three-object accounting set, the secondary object represents allocations of fund accounts to the source record, with an amount for each allocation.
- In a four-object accounting set, the tertiary object specifies both an amount for the allocation and the fund that it's allocated to. The secondary object represents the individual amounts of a group of related payments or expenses (such as for a recurring gift or donation). And each of these individual amounts is the parent of the corresponding allocation.

Use your current process to manage your allocation amounts. We recommend that the total allocation amount equal the amount of the parent record, to ensure consistency when generating accounting records. See [Object Models for Accounting Sets](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.asl_object_models.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Accounting sets enable you to specify which objects and fields store your source data and how to generate transaction journal records from it. It's a flexible approach that lets you map your financial data model to a logical data model, supporting from one to four objects, including the Fund Account object. Each accounting set represents a set of financial data, such as revenue from gifts or expenses from fees.").
