You can use permission sets, system permissions, and audiences together to control portal access and visibility by user role. Permission sets grant access and group portal users by role, system permissions link permission sets to audiences, and audiences determine the portal user groups that have access to each portal page and component.

Education Cloud includes system permissions to define applicant, student, and alumni users. Your constituents can have one or more of these permissions.
- Education Portal Security
Design and implement a security model for your portal. - Permission Sets for Education Portal Users
Create permission sets to assign object and field permissions so that constituents can use the components in the Education Portal template for Experience Cloud. - Assign System Permissions to Portal User Permission Sets
System permissions work with user permissions and audiences to manage portal access. - Control Access to Education Portal Elements with Audiences
The Education Portal template includes applicant, student, and alumni components by default. To provide tailored, relevant experiences for all your portal users, you can make portal pages and components visible only to certain audiences. - Manage Guest Access to Your Portal
To show unauthenticated site visitors information about your institution's academic schedule, student programs, financial aid options, course catalog, and so on, give guest users read access to the relevant records. - Configure an Applicant Portal for Third-Party Representatives
Use Omnistudio components to set up an applicant portal for parents, guardians, and commissioned agents to apply on behalf of students.
