Configure K-12 Support Staff Permissions

Learn About K-12 Support Staff Permissions

Make sure your support staff and system administrators have the access they need to system functionality, standard and custom objects, and fields.

To help you get started, the K-12 support staff and System Administrator profiles included with Student Success Hub are configured with the permissions documented here. The support staff permission set is also configured with these permissions.

Tip Setting all permissions correctly is essential, but pay especially close attention to setting field permissions. If field permissions are incorrect, support staff are likely to encounter errors using the app. It's easy to overlook a field, and tracking down the source of errors can be tricky and time-consuming. So double-check your field permissions—or better yet, triple-check them.

Configure K-12 Support Staff System Permissions

K-12 support staff need access to some specific System Permissions, which are called General User Permissions in the original profile user interface. Configure them by editing the appropriate profile using the enhanced profile user interface.

1. From Setup, search for and then select Profiles.

2. Click the Profile Name for your K-12 support staff.

3. Click System Permissions and then click Edit.

4. Make sure these fields are selected:

   • Edit Events

   • Edit Tasks

5. Save your changes.

Configure K-12 Support Staff Object and Field Permissions

Configure object and field permissions for K-12 support staff by editing the appropriate profile. Here's how to configure permissions using the enhanced profile user interface.

1. From Setup, search for and then select Profiles.

2. Click the Profile Name that you want to set permissions and security for.

3. Click Object Settings.

4. Click the object you want to configure, click Edit, and specify the minimum Object Permissions and Field Permissions shown in the tables.

5. If you're configuring multiple objects, use the breadcrumb navigation to select the next object from the menu.

6. Save your changes.

These tables document the minimum object and field access required for core Student Success Hub functionality. Without these permissions in place, your users may experience errors. If an object or field isn't listed—and many standard Salesforce items are not—it means that either:

• Student Success Hub doesn't have a dependency on it. Your institution can decide whether it wants to customize that setting, or

• It's a default, out-of-the-box setting that can't be changed.
