Schedule National Change Of Address Updates

Learn about considerations for scheduling NCOA updates and how to schedule, edit, and skip updates.

Before You Schedule NCOA Updates

For Data8 customers, if you're planning to schedule an NCOA update for UK addresses, you have the option of running a NCOA audit to get an estimate about the cost of processing these addresses.

  1. Click the Address Updates tab. Refresh the page to display the Run NCOA Audit button if you just entered your Data8 credentials. If the button still doesn’t display, wait a few minutes and refresh the page again.

  2. Specify a start date and time, which is based on your browser's time zone as set by your computer's operating system. If your system time is after 11:45PM, you will be prompted to enter the next day's date.

  3. Choose the set of addresses you want to update to get an accurate audit estimate:

    • Select All address records to choose all Address records, or

    • Select Specified Records and select one or both options:

      • Default addresses only to choose only addresses set as a Default Address.

      • Addresses not reviewed for changes within to choose addresses that haven't been evaluated for a change of address within the time frame you specify, as determined by the NCOA Evaluation Date field on the Address. For example, if you choose to update records not reviewed for changes within 30 days, addresses with an NCOA Evaluation Date more than 30 days ago will be evaluated.

    • (Optional) Select the Campaign lookup checkbox, search and click your preferred campaign.

      • If Campaign Lookup is selected, only the Campaign Members on that campaign will be included in the NCOA update job.

  4. Review the estimated number of record updates.

  5. Click Run NCOA Audit to schedule a job. You will receive an email directly from Data8 with the results of the audit when your job is processed.

Before you schedule NCOA updates, exclude addresses you don't want to be updated. NCOA updates respect the Address Override setting on a Contact, however, the Contact's Address will still be updated unless you exclude it from Data Integrity updates. To prevent individual addresses from being updated, select Exclude from Updates on the Address record.

Schedule NCOA Updates

Schedule a one-time NCOA update, or schedule recurring updates.

  1. Click the Data Updates tab. Refresh the page to display the Schedule Updates button if you just entered your Data8 or Melissa Data credentials. If the button still doesn’t display, wait a few minutes and refresh the page again.

  2. Click Schedule Updates.

  3. For Update Type, select National Change of Address (NCOA) and Select a job.

  4. Select an update frequency, or select One-Time to schedule a one-time update.

  5. Specify a start date and time, which is based on your browser's time zone as set by your computer's operating system.

Addresses for which standardization was previously attempted but not completed successfully are excluded from this count, for example for incomplete or ambiguous Address records with missing state or zip code. If the Ambiguous? field is marked True for a specific Address record, then we don't get a standardized address back from Melissa Data, unless the record is rectified.

  7. Choose the set of addresses you want to update:

    • Select Specified Records and select one or both options:

For example, if you choose to update records not reviewed for changes within 30 days, addresses with an NCOA Evaluation Date more than 30 days ago will be evaluated.

    • Optionally, select the Campaign lookup checkbox, search and click your preferred campaign.

      • If Campaign Lookup is selected, only the Campaign Members on that campaign will be included in the NCOA update job.
