| To create a feed channel: | Customize Application |
- From the App Launcher, find and select Broadcast Topics.
- Click New.
- Name the broadcast topic, and select a topic type.
If the topic type that you want doesn’t exist, you can create one. Assign only one feed channel to each broadcast topic.
- Enter a description for the broadcast topic.
- Select if you want this topic featured in your onboarding message on Slack, and click Save.
- From the dropdown in the upper-right corner, select Set Up Feed Channel.
- Select the user roles to include in this channel, and click Next.
- Select the workspace that you want to add the feed channel to.
- Name the feed channel. The name is visible to channel members in Slack.
- Choose whether the channel is public or private.
Users can view or join a private channel only by invitation. Anyone in the team’s Slack workspace can view or join a public channel.
Note After a channel is set to private, you can’t change it to public. - Select whether to automatically add users in the selected roles to the channel now or to
have users join the feed channel manually. If you opted to include the channels in users’
welcome message, they can find the channel easily.
If you’re adding Salesforce users to feed channels using roles, user roles from your role hierarchy that are above the role that you select don’t inherit access to the channel.
- Click Next.
- Configure a notification flow that feeds into this broadcast topic.
If you don’t activate a flow, the channel doesn’t receive notifications.
- To create the feed channel and invite users, click Activate Channel.
