Automatic Contact Creation looks for external people with email addresses that don’t already belong to contacts. A contact is created after one of these situations occurs.

  • A user receives an email from an external person the number of times specified in the email threshold. If a user sends an email to an external person in the To, cc, or bcc fields, it doesn’t count towards the threshold for automatic contact creation.
  • A user meets with an external person the number of times specified in the event threshold.

For details about how an account is associated with the automatically created contact, see Considerations for Automatic Contact Creation.
