The Permissions Report for ServiceNow identifies tables that the authenticated user doesn't have web service access to, which can cause incomplete backups. You can resolve permission issues using insights from the report such as excluding certain tables from backups.
Every day, for every full backup, The permissions report uses the Table-Level-Security (TLS) feature to analyze the web service access in your ServiceNow instance.
In the event of an incomplete backup, your backup will still run successfully.
You will receive an email if any items were added, removed, or changed in your permission report. We recommend reviewing the changes in your Permission Report and fix the access. If there are any fields that need excluding, a warning message appears on the Permissions Report screen.
It is recommended to review the changes in the Permission Report and either exclude tables or resolve the permission issues from the permission report.
From the Permissions Report page, you can:
- View when the report was created, how, and for which user.

- Exclude Multiple Tables from a ServiceNow Backup
Omit certain tables from the backup process to optimize performance, reduce backup duration, and avoid overloading the ServiceNow instance. Exclude various tables from backups, such as those that are non-critical, hold system data, or have restricted access. - Resolve Permissions in ServiceNow
Resolving permission issues enables your backup to access all necessary data, preventing an incomplete backup of your ServiceNow instance. If restricted tables are left unaddressed, they can compromise data integrity during recovery.
