Manage Marketing Objects

You can create a marketing object by importing data from a CSV file. You can also delete a marketing object that you don’t need.

Create a Marketing Object by Importing a File

Upload a CSV file to create a marketing object and load data into it in one step. The resulting marketing object contains only the columns specified in the CSV file that you provide. Marketing Cloud Next infers the data type for each column based on the data in the input file.

  8. If a field is a primary key, select Primary Key.
    Note
Note You can select more than one primary key field. Marketing objects don’t support composite keys.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Save your changes.

Refresh the Data in a Marketing Object

Perform a full refresh of the data in a marketing object by uploading a CSV file. When you perform a full refresh, Marketing Cloud Next deletes the data in the marketing object and replaces it with the data in the CSV file.

  6. To modify an existing field, click the pencil icon next to it and update the field properties.
Field API name, Data type, and Primary key designation can’t be changed after you create a field. If you need to change these properties, delete the field and create a new one. Deleting a field permanently removes all data in that field.
  7. Save your changes.
After you save your changes, the process typically completes in a few seconds. While the update processes you can't make additional changes to the object's schema. The object remains available for data operations like queries and record creation. If a field shows a "Read Only" indicator, a schema change is currently in progress for that field or the object. Wait for the current change to complete before making additional modifications.
