Create a Send Classification

Follow these steps to create a send classification within Marketing Cloud Engagement Setup.

Create a sender profile and a delivery profile before you create a send classification.

  1. In Marketing Cloud Engagement Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter classification, and then select Send Classifications.
  2. Click Create.
  3. In the Properties section, specify a name, description, and external key for the send classification. The external key is a unique key that you can use to identify the send classification in API requests.
  4. For CAN-SPAM Classification, specify whether the email is Commercial or Transactional.
    Note
Note If you select a Transactional classification, a checkbox labeled Honor source and publication list level opt outs appears. If you select this option, all subscribers who previously opted out or reported your messages as spam are excluded. Otherwise, opted out subscribers are eligible to receive transactional messages.
  5. Choose a sender profile and delivery profile to associate with the send classification.
  6. Choose a Send Priority.
    • Normal: Send performs at a normal pace
    • Low: The send doesn’t receive priority and can take longer than normal to perform
    • High: Prioritizes the send ahead of other sends
  7. If you want to archive emails that use this send classification, select Archive all emails sent using this send classification.
    Note
Note To enable the email archiving feature for your account, contact your account executive.
  8. Save your changes.
