Track your customer engagement in Distributed Marketing (DM).
Install and configure Marketing Cloud Connect and enable individual email reporting (IER).
- In Marketing Cloud Engagement, enable the sendLog data extension in your MIDs. You can also enable your entire EID.
-
For each journey that you want to track, add a VARCHAR(50) attribute named
dmTrackingId to the entry event data extension.
For an existing journey, tracking starts after dmTracking is added to the entry event data extension and all enablement steps for tracking are completed.
- Add a column to the sendLog DE named dmTrackingId mapped as a VARCHAR(50) attribute. The name is case-sensitive.
- In Sales and Service Cloud, open DM Administration and click Reporting.
- Enable Activity Log Reporting Options for any DM sending flows you want to track engagement for.
-
Link IERs with DM activity log records by creating a Lookup field to DM Activity Log on the
IER object.
- Add a custom field with the type Lookup.
- Select DM Activity Log as the object.
- Enable field-level security Distributed Marketing users.
DM tracking is enabled automatically for the first send for each connected campaign or quick send. DM tracking is manually enabled on a connected campaign or quick send by clicking the quick send CTA and enabling tracking. If the journey version is updated for the connected DM journey, it attempts to enable tracking again for the latest version.
In some cases, IERs are sent to Sales and Service Cloud without the DM activity ID. To resolve this issue, select Request Tracking Immediately in the Triggered Send object in Marketing Cloud Connect. There might be delays in sendLog for higher volume sends.
