The Data Use Purpose object represents the reason for contacting a user, such as for billing or marketing. Create different Data Use Purpose records on your preference forms for the reasons that you contact customers. You can use the same Data Use Purpose for different Business Brands on one preference form, or keep them separate.
- From the App Launcher, find and select Data Use Purpose.
- Click New.
- Give your Data Use Purpose a name and optional description. You can link to an associated Data Use Legal Basis.
Note When you create a Data Use Purpose record, select Can Data Subject Opt
Out to give your users the ability to opt out of communications. It’s not selected
by default, so users can’t opt out.
