Manage Customer PII with Data Privacy Requests

Data privacy requests help you protect a customer’s personal data throughout your backup history. Create requests in Backup & Recover Next to apply the required privacy protection to every backed-up instance of a record.

Data privacy includes the practices and safeguards that protect personally identifiable information (PII). Effective data privacy practices help your company comply with applicable regulations, reduce the risks associated with data breaches, and maintain customer trust.

When you protect or correct personal data in your org, you've addressed that instance and future instances. Handling the live record is only part of the process. Backups can contain more instances of the same record from different points in time. Addressing the record only in your live org leaves the historical instances unchanged in your backups.

Backup & Recover Next supports two types of data privacy requests:

  • Right to be forgotten: Anonymizes the record data throughout your backup history.
  • Right to rectification: Changes the record data throughout your backup history to match the corrected values.

You create one data privacy request for a record instead of finding and addressing each backed-up instance separately. This approach helps you apply your company’s data privacy policies consistently across live and backed-up data.

  • Create Data Privacy Requests
Create data privacy requests to anonymize or correct every backed-up instance of a customer record. Use Forget requests to anonymize personal data or Rectify requests to replace it with corrected values.
