Before you create a data privacy request, prepare a CSV file for the selected request type. The file can contain up to 50,000 rows, including the header row.

For a Forget request:

  • In the first row, include these column names: RecordId, Object, Fields, and Comment.
  • In RecordId, enter the record’s 18-character Salesforce ID, such as 001xx000003DGb2AAG.
  • In Object, enter the object’s API name, such as Lead.
  • In Fields, enter one or more field API names that contain the data to anonymize. Separate multiple field API names with semicolons, without spaces. For example, Email;Phone;MailingStreet. Fields can’t be empty.
  • In Comment, optionally enter information about the request.

For a Rectify request:

  • In the first row, include these column names: RecordId, Object, FieldName, FieldValue, and Comment.
  • In RecordId, enter the record’s 18-character Salesforce ID, such as 001xx000003DGb2AAG.
  • In Object, enter the object’s API name, such as Lead.
  • In FieldName, enter the field that contains the data to correct. FieldName can’t be empty.
  • In FieldValue, enter the corrected value.
  • In Comment, optionally enter information about the request.
  • Add a separate row for each field that you want to correct. To correct multiple fields on the same record, repeat the RecordId and Object values in each row.
  1. Click the Settings tab.
  2. Click Data Privacy.
  3. Click New Request.
  4. Select the request type. Use Forget to anonymize record data, or use Rectify to replace record data with corrected values.
  5. Click Upload File and select the prepared CSV file. Backup & Recover Next validates the CSV file before submission.
  6. If the file contains an invalid value or doesn’t meet the file requirements, an error message explains what to correct.
  7. Click Submit Request.

A request is created for each record included in the CSV file. Data privacy requests take 48 hours to be committed. Until they're committed, cancel the request from the Data Privacy list. After the request is committed, you can’t cancel it. Data privacy requests can also be made for individual records in search results.
