Review the central Asset Eligibility Framework before turning on hardware validation.
This framework protects subscription tracking and multi-domain data integrity. It provides
isolation between co-existing asset clouds to prevent automated operations from affecting non-IT
asset classes.

Framework Overview and Strategic Value
IT Hardware Asset Management (ITHAM) identifies records actively managed under the ITHAM
product domain by using a dedicated IT Hardware indicator field
(IsItHardwareAsset) on the Asset entity.
The system uses this marker to validate record scope before running background operations,
automated workflows, or lifecycle transitions. If an asset lacks an explicit mark as an
eligible IT Hardware asset, the system treats the record as out-of-scope.
A pre-deployment data audit and framework compliance check are required for two main
reasons:
- Billing and Subscription Integrity: ITHAM subscription metering and billing
calculations depend directly on the total count of active, managed IT Hardware assets.
Untagged valid records compromise metering accuracy.
- Co-existence Domain Isolation: Many organizations run multiple asset-tracking
product domains within a single Salesforce org. Eligibility enforcement makes sure that
automated hardware processes don't overwrite or corrupt data in adjacent, non-IT asset
classes.
Enforcement Guardrails
Validation enforces strict record compliance. If a processing batch contains a single
ineligible asset, the system rejects the entire transaction.
Production environments don't support an emergency or temporary bypass switch for the Asset
Eligibility Framework. Systematically audit and tag all active hardware assets before you
turning on global enforcement.
