Note

Use of this pilot or beta service is at the Customer's sole discretion.
Important
Important For users to create and update records in Salesforce in Claude, a Claude admin must set the Salesforce MCP server's Dispatch API setting in Claude to Needs Approval (recommended) or Always Allowed. Setting Dispatch API to Deny keeps Salesforce in Claude read only. For more information, see Set Tool Restrictions for the Salesforce MCP Server.

Supported Objects

During this beta, Salesforce in Claude can create and update records for these objects:

  • Account
  • AccountPlan
  • Contact
  • Event
  • Lead
  • Opportunity
  • Opportunity Product
  • Task
  • Custom objects

Objects that use Lightning web component overrides or Visualforce action overrides aren't supported.

Validation, Permissions, and Behavior

Salesforce in Claude honors a user's Edit Read-Only Fields permission.

Record saves via Salesforce in Claude adhere to the same required-field and read-only-field validation rules enforced in Lightning Experience. Saving a record is prevented only when the same save would be blocked for a user editing directly in Lightning.

When evaluating save:

  • If a required field is missing, the request returns a required-field validation error.
  • If a user without the appropriate permission attempts to change a read-only field, the request returns a read-only validation error.
  • Relationship-path fields are ignored if they don't represent a directly editable field on the record.
  • If the submitted fields are valid for the user in Lightning Experience, the save proceeds.

For bulk operations, validation is performed per record. Errors are returned for the individual records that don't meet their applicable UI rules.
