Prospecting agents run automatically on a schedule or manually from a report or account. The run type determines which accounts the agent researches, which limits apply, and how the agent assigns prospects.

Types of Runs
- Scheduled report runs: Automatic weekly runs on the day, time, and time zone set during agent configuration. The agent researches the eligible accounts in its reports.
- Manual report runs: On-demand runs a sales rep starts by clicking Run Agent. The agent researches the eligible accounts in the same reports as scheduled report runs.
- Manual account runs: On-demand runs a sales rep starts by clicking Generate Prospects from Account on an account record. The agent researches only the account that the run is initiated from. The account doesn't need to be in a configured report.
Report runs, both scheduled and manual, apply the qualification criteria, data sources, record creation settings, prospect assignment rules, and open-prospect limits that you configured. After the agent successfully researches an account in a report run, it skips that account in later report runs for one calendar month, even if it finds no prospects.
Manual account runs skip the one-month wait and the open-prospect limit check. Prospects from a manual account run that are waiting for approval still count toward the rep's open-prospect limit and can reduce capacity for later report runs.
Use scheduled report runs to keep prospects flowing to your reps’ prospecting pages. Use a manual account run when a rep wants prospects from one account right away.
Users need the Sales Agentic Prospecting Manager permission set to start a manual run.
What Happens During a Run
In each run, regardless of the type, the agent:
- Researches and qualifies the accounts from your CRM based on the account criteria provided during the agent's configuration.
- Finds contacts from qualified accounts. Contacts are sourced from your CRM and any connected data vendors.
- Validates the contacts against the prospect criteria provided during the agent's configuration.
- Creates a lead, or a contact for each qualified prospect from a connected data vendor who isn't in your CRM. Learn more in How Agentforce Prospecting Creates Lead and Contact Records.
- Assigns prospects to the appropriate sales rep according to the run type. Manual and scheduled report runs assign prospects based on the configured assignment rules during the agent's configuration. Manual account runs assign prospects based on the owner selected for the action.
- Adds qualified prospects to the prospecting page.
Data Accessed During a Run
To accomplish the agent's required tasks during a run, it accesses data from your CRM based on the access permissions of the user running the agent. Data vendor access is configured at the org level. Depending on your setup, the agent can use:
- Account, lead, and contact data from Salesforce CRM
- Past emails and meetings synced through Einstein Activity Capture
- Call insights and transcripts from Einstein Conversation Insights
- Data vendor data, such as ZoomInfo, when connected
