Considerations for Connecting Your Enablement Site to an Experience Cloud Site

Before you enable Experience Cloud site members for your enablement site, review the impacts of some key decisions on your implementation. Evaluate how connecting your enablement site to an Experience Cloud site and how your authentication provider affect the user experience for Experience Cloud site members.

Authorized Users and Authentication Providers

To access to your enablement site, an Experience Cloud site member:

  • Must be able to access your enablement site's login URL
  • Must be assigned to a permission set that meets both of these criteria:
    • Uses the Enablement Sites (myTrailhead) license
    • Enables access to at least one content collection

You can enable external learners with either of the supported authentication providers: Salesforce Identity for Enablement or Trailblazer.me (TBID). But the authentication provider that you select determines whether your enablement site can support internal users from your Salesforce org and external users who are Experience Cloud site members.

Authentication Provider Users Supported
Salesforce Identity for Enablement We recommend that your enablement site supports only internal users or external users, but not both. To support external users, you can use your Experience Cloud site’s login URL as the Salesforce Identity for Enablement authentication page URL. But doing so restricts the users who can log in to your enablement site to only Experience Cloud site members.
TBID Your enablement site can support both internal and external users.

Links to Enablement Site Content from an Experience Cloud Site

You can embed a link to your enablement site in your Experience Cloud site. What happens when an Experience Cloud site member follows a link to your enablement site depends on which authentication provider your enablement site uses.

Merged Profile with TBID Authentication for Multiple Experience Cloud Sites

When your enablement site uses TBID authentication, an Experience Cloud site member has a single, merged profile for logging into both your enablement site and Trailhead. If the member has access to multiple Experience Cloud sites, the member’s profile can show different points and badges data, depending on where they’re logged in.

For example, let’s say that a user is a member in two Experience Cloud sites, using the same email address. Here’s how the member’s points and badges appear:

  • When the member is logged in to the first Experience Cloud site and navigates to your enablement site, they see only the points and badges earned from the first site.
  • When the member is logged in to the second Experience Cloud site and navigates to your enablement site, they see only the points and badges earned from the second site.

Branding Configuration Conflicts

The company branding options that you configure for your enablement site can conflict with your Experience Cloud site’s branding settings.

Logo, Banner, and Color
On your enablement site, your logo appears at the top of every page and your custom banner image appears on the Today page. Your company color appears on the enablement site navigation tabs and in certain page headers. But you can’t otherwise change the appearance of your enablement site. For example, you can customize the text in the page header on the learning page on your Experience Cloud site, but you can’t change the page headers on your enablement site.
Help Icon
If you customize the URL for the help icon on your enablement site, you can direct users to your own help site. If you don’t customize the help icon URL, your users are directed to the Salesforce Trailblazer Community.
