To improve the multi-factor authentication (MFA) user experience, we updated the pages where users select a verification method. The updated pages use clearer terminology that is less technical and more user-friendly. They also highlight passkeys as a recommended method, which guides users toward faster, easier, and more secure MFA. These changes improve the user experience for enforcement of the multi-factor authentication (MFA) requirement for employee users.
Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in all editions.
When: This change is available starting in July 2026.
How: The MFA user experience depends on your org settings. If you've customized MFA registration to show all permitted verification methods, users see this page after they enter their username and password.
Otherwise, MFA registration starts with the strongest permitted method, such as a passkey. In that case, the user sees this page if they opt to register a different verification method.
When logging in with MFA, users see a similar page to choose from among their already-registered verification methods.
