History Retention Policy Manager Tab

Maintain compliance with data retention policies, manage field history tracking, and ensure sensitive data is properly monitored from the History Retention policy Manager tab.

The History Retention Policy Manager tab allows users to:

  • View an org’s history retention configuration within Salesforce Shield Field Audit Trail and apply updates to the metadata.
  • Provides a centralized area for field history tracking of all supported objects.
  • Identify sensitive fields using automated visual indicators.
  • View previous snapshots of history retention policies for audit and compliance requests.

These columns provide tracking and retention information for individual objects:

  • History Tracking Enabled?: Indicates if field history tracking is enabled at the object level.
  • # of Fields Tracked: Displays the number of fields for that object which are currently being tracked.
  • Archive After (Months): After the specified number of months, information stored for this object is archived. Archive After range is 0 to 18 months.
  • Archive Retention (Years): After the specified number of years, a reminder is sent to manually delete field change history data. Archive Retention range is 0 to 10 years.
  • Grace Period (Days): This feature only applies to the initial archive. Grace days provide an administrator with extra time to prepare an Org prior to the initial archive of its data. Grace Period range is 0 to 10 days.
  • Description: Provides a description for an object with Field History Tracking enabled.
