Anonymize as part of a seeding job in ServiceNow enables you to anonymize the seeding source's data. Source data such as personally identifiable information (PII), sensitive information, and classified information is anonymized before being copied to (seeded in) the destination.
To anonymize data as part of the execution of a seeding job, you need the following items created and configured:
- A seeding template - a Nodes template. For information about creating and configuring seeding templates, refer to the Accelerate topics in the User Guide for ServiceNow.
- An anonymization template that anonymizes the data (tables/columns) that is contained in
the Template Source, which is defined in the seeding template.Note Only objects that are included in both the seeding and anonymization templates are anonymized.
- The name of the anonymization template that you want to use is defined in the Anonymization Template field of the seeding template that is being used for the seeding job.
- The Seeding application retrieves the seeding source's data.
- The Anonymize application uses the anonymization template that is referenced in the Anonymization Template field of the seeding template to anonymize the retrieved seeding source data.
- The Seeding application copies (seeds) the anonymized seeding source data in to the destination that is defined for the seeding job.
For information about referencing an anonymization template in a seeding template, refer to the topic Configuring a Seeding Template to Anonymize As Part of a Seeding Job in ServiceNow.
