Preserve data after a Microsoft Dynamics backup or sandbox service instance is migrated, decommissioned, or duplicated. Archiving backups stops the service from backing up new data. Access archived data for future restoration or data seeding.
Data services and Metadata services can both be archived.
- Select the backup or sandbox service you want to archive.
- Select the Options tab and then select the General tab.
-
In the General tab click the three dots and select Pause or Archive Service.
If it isn't enabled (if it’s grayed out), contact your business unit’s Admin or Master Admin (as required) to enable the self-served archiving function.
- Select the Archive Indefinitely radio button.
-
Click Archive to confirm that you want to archive this production or sandbox service.
After the service has been archived, a confirmation message appears at the bottom of the screen.
Archiving a backup service generates an event (which can be reviewed in the Auditing tab of the Account Settings screen), and sends an email. Unarchiving a backup service generates an event, but does not send an email.
Warning Once you archive a production or sandbox service, daily auto backups will no longer run for that service!Important Although daily auto backups will no longer run for the service that has been archived, the data in the archived service will be retained, and you will be able to restore the data from the archived service.
