Install the Archive Managed Package

Install and, if necessary, uninstall the Archive managed package.

Note
Note This content relates to Archive. For Salesforce Archive, see Store Data Externally with Salesforce Archive.
Note
Note Libraries in Salesforce must be enabled.

The user must have the Salesforce admin profile assigned.

Archive User Types

  • Admin Users—Primary users of Archive. An Admin can access all records and objects in Salesforce. If the Admin selects an object that the Authenticated User doesn't have permission to view, the policies don't execute.
  • Authenticated User—User who logs into your Salesforce environment. This user is separate from the users who interact with Archive.
  • End Users—Salesforce users who aren't admins. Admins grant end users access to records. When granted access to specific records, end users can archive them.

To install the Archive package:

  1. Select one of these installation options.
    • Install for Admins Only
    • Install for All Users
    • Install for Specific Profiles

This configuration decides who manages and creates Archive policies.

    Tip
Tip We recommend Install for Admins Only. Selecting Install for All Users or Install for Specific Profiles immediately assigns all Archive package custom permissions to the selected profiles.

Permission sets don't override these profile-based permissions.

  2. Click Install.
The Welcome to Archive! page opens.
  3. In the Region dropdown list, select your region.
    Warning
Warning After you select a region, you can't change it.

You can configure a region later, but you can't use Archive until the region has been set.

  4. The installation can take several minutes.
  5. Click Get Started and follow the onscreen steps.
When you complete the process successfully, the confirmation screen is displayed.

To verify that the package has been installed correctly, see Verify Archive Package Installation and Functionality.
