The Anonymize app can be used as part of a seeding job which enables you to anonymize the seeding source's data - personally identifiable information (PII), sensitive information, classified information - before that data is copied to (seeded in) the destination.
Prerequisites
To anonymize data as part of the execution of a seeding job, you need the following items created and configured:
- A seeding template - either a Nodes template or a Levels template.
- An anonymization template that anonymizes the data contained in the Template Source, which is defined in the seeding template.
Only objects that are included in both the seeding and anonymization templates are anonymized.
The name of the anonymization template that you want to use is defined in the Anonymization Template field of the seeding template that is being used for the seeding job.
Processing Flow
When you anonymize data as part of the execution a seeding job, the processing flow is as follows:
- The Seeding application retrieves the seeding source's data.
- The Anonymize application uses the anonymization template that is referenced in the Anonymization Template field of the seeding template to anonymize the retrieved seeding source data.
- Object record filters that are defined in an anonymization template are ignored, when anonymizing as part of a seeding job.
- The Seeding application copies (seeds) the anonymized seeding source data in to the destination that is defined for the seeding job.
Referencing an Anonymization Template
For information about referencing an anonymization template in a seeding template, see Configure a Seeding Template to Anonymize As Part of a Seeding Job in either Build the Nodes Seeding Template for Salesforce or Build the Levels Seeding Template for Salesforce.
