Segmentation

Use Account Engagement lists and tags to segment your prospects. Lists are groups of prospects for sending list emails or feeding to engagement programs. Use tags to sort, filter, and organize your prospects and marketing assets.

  • Static and Dynamic Prospect Lists
A static list consists of prospects that you build one time and edit manually to make changes. A dynamic list is rule-based and automatically updates when a prospect’s data changes.
  • Considerations for Using Dynamic Lists
When using dynamic lists, keep these considerations in mind.
  • Create a Static List
A list is a group of prospects that you can use to send list emails or to feed engagement programs. To add prospects to a static list, you can add them manually or use automations.
  • Create a Dynamic List
A rule-based dynamic list automatically adds prospects when they match the criteria and removes them when they don’t.
  • Convert Dynamic Lists to Static
Dynamic lists require system bandwidth every time they update. To preserve dynamic lists you want to keep but don’t need updated automatically, convert them to static.
  • Dynamic List Rule Criteria
Dynamic list rules use filtering criteria to match prospects and add them to your list. The criteria are available in the Building step when you create a dynamic list.
  • Split a List
You can split a list into smaller lists. Prospects are divided randomly between the lists. If you split a dynamic list, the new lists are static lists.
  • Delete a List
Deleting a list places it in the recycle bin. Deleting a list doesn’t delete the prospects on the list.
  • Archive a List
Archive lists to clean up the number of lists displayed in your Lists table. When a list is archived, you can’t add prospects or use it for list emails. Automations continue to work as expected.
  • Managing Prospect List Membership
After you’ve created a static list, you can manually add prospects to the list and remove them. You can also use automation and segmentation rules, completion actions, and imports to manage prospect list membership.
  • Organizing with Tags
You can create tags and apply them to assets and prospects from almost any table, record, or action. Use tags to filter data tables and asset lists, label prospects, and label assets for easier updating.
