Data kits contain the objects, fields, and data connections that make Marketing Cloud Next work. Marketing data kits are required for all Marketing Cloud Next users, but the sales data kit is optional based on how you manage your CRM data.

| To deploy data kits in setup: |

| To deploy data streams manually: | Data Cloud Architect permission set |
Here are some things to consider before you deploy data kits in Marketing Cloud Next.
- Before you deploy data kits, make sure that each step in the Enable Marketing Cloud section is complete. You can resolve some issues on your own, but some errors require that you contact Salesforce Customer Support. See Setting Up Your Marketing App.
- Data streams consume Data 360 credits based on the amount of batch data that's processed. See Data 360 Billable Usage Types.
- If you're setting up Marketing Cloud Next in a Data 360 One companion org, the data kits are deployed in the home org.
- When an update is available for a data kit, we notify you to return to the Basic Settings page and redeploy it.
Deploy or Update Required Marketing Data Kits
You can quickly deploy or update all the required marketing data kits with one click. If you’re deploying for the first time, the CRM and ingestion data streams for all the listed data kits are deployed in Data 360. If you’re updating, the data kits with changes are redeployed.
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Basic.
- Under Marketing Setup, click Basic Settings.
- In the Deploy Marketing Data Kits section, click Deploy or Update.
The status of each data kit and its related data streams is shown, so you can confirm that they’re deployed successfully. This process takes a few minutes. To learn how to deploy a data stream manually, see Manually Deploy the Updated Data Streams.
Deploy or Update the Sales Data Kit
The optional Sales data kit ingests Salesforce CRM data from your accounts, contacts, leads, and opportunities. It's the fastest path to building Identity Resolution rulesets and enabling features that track engagement, because it saves you from mapping those objects yourself.
If you manage customer identity outside of Salesforce, or want more control over which CRM data to bring into Data 360, you can skip deploying the sales data kit. If you don’t deploy the sales data kit, certain features like reporting dashboards require extra configuration. Opportunity Influence requires the sales data kit.
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Basic.
- Under Marketing Setup, click Basic Settings.
- In the Deploy the Sales Data Kit section, click Deploy or Update.
The page shows the status of the sales data kit, so you can confirm that it deployed successfully.
