Create a Twitter Social Engagement data stream to pull organic data from your Twitter accounts.
To create a Twitter Social Engagement connector, you need:
- A valid username and password for the Twitter account that you want to pull data for.
- The authenticated user must be the owner of the tweets. This API allows you to pull historical data for private metrics only for tweets that the authenticated user owns.
- On the Import tab, expand Data Streams List.
- Click Add New.
- Select the Twitter Social Engagement connector.
- In the General section, select the account that you want to pull data for. To add a new data source authentication, click Add New and enter your Twitter Social Engagement credentials.
- Set the time period for the initial data fetch. You can process data up to the past 180 days.
- To filter tweets by date, in the Extended Properties, select Filter tweets by creation date. The API call then eliminates redundant calls. For example, engagement on an old tweet doesn’t show up if it doesn’t match the creation date that you selected.
- To change the mapping, click Mapping. You can also access mapping by clicking Map to Model at the bottom of the Create New Stream page.
- To define advanced settings, at the bottom of the screen, click Advanced Settings.
- Click Create.
-
Quality check your data.
- Create a report in Twitter Analytics for the selected date range.
- Process the relevant data stream in MDP for the same date range.
- Create an identical report or pivot table in MDP with the same date range, dimensions, and measurements.
- Compare and make sure that the measurement totals are aligned.
