SMS Metrics

In the Consumption by Type section, click the arrow icon next to the name of a country to view metrics specific to that country.

The names of SMS consumption metrics follow this format: <Sender type> <Origination type> <International or Domestic>.

The sender type can be one of these values.

Alpha
For messages sent from an alphanumeric sender ID. Alphanumeric codes don’t support incoming messages.
Long
For messages sent to or from a long code. A long code typically includes the same number of digits as other phone numbers in the country it’s based in.
Short
For messages sent to or from a short code. A short code typically includes 3–7 digits.

The origination type can be one of these values.

MO
Short for Mobile Originated. An MO message is one that’s sent from a recipient’s device to Salesforce.
MT
Short for Mobile Terminated. An MT message is one that’s sent from Salesforce to a recipient’s device.

The third value is either International or Domestic, depending on whether the message was sent internationally. For example, a message sent from a Canadian short code to a recipient with a US-based phone number counts as an international message.

For example, a value of Short MT Domestic refers to a message that’s sent from Salesforce to a recipient by using a short code that’s based in the same country as the recipient’s phone number.

Some values don’t follow this format.

MMS MT Standard
Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) messages, which can contain images, audio, and video.
