A switch date widget is a type of interactive filter widget available in the widget library. With this widget you can switch the date granularity of widgets used in the page.

| To create a switch date widget: | Admin or Power User |
- Navigate to Visualize.
- Select the dashboard, and then select the page you want to add a widget to.
- To edit the selected page, click the pencil icon.
- To add a new widget, click the + icon.
- Scroll down to the Interactive section and click Switch Date.
A new switch date widget is added to your page from which you can preview any change that is made to the widget. These options are available in the Data tab:
- Add data to your widget — Select the date-type dimensions you want to add to the widget.
- Set date granularity — Select the granularity level of the date field
you want to switch to if more than one date-type field is available in the target widgets.
- Least Granular — Select this to change the least granular date in the target widget. For example, if day, week and year are in the target widget, day will be switched.
- Most granular — Select this to change the most granular date in the target widget. For example, if day, week and year are in the target widget, year will be switched.
- Set Default Values — Define the default date period used each time the page loads.
- Apply to Specific Widgets — Apply the switch date widget selections to specific widgets on the page. If no widgets are selected, then the switch date widget is applied to all the widgets on the page.
- Retain User Selection — This checkbox is selected by default. It automatically saves the switch date widget settings that are applied per user to a page or dashboard. Then, when switching between dashboards or pages, the same settings appear. If you don’t want to save the switch widget selections per user, clear this checkbox.
Note
- The switch date widget only switches date type dimensions.
- Only dimensions from the Date entity can be added to the switch date widget. However, when a custom calendar is in use, you can also add Custom Date dimensions.
After you finish configuring the Data tab, configure the Design tab. These options are available:
- List Display — If you selected List as the filtering display, select
how to display the list:
- Vertical — Lists the filter selections on individual rows.
- Horizontal — Lists the filter selections one after the other, on the same row.
- Show Search Box — Select to insert a search box into the widget so that you can search for specific date periods to filter by.
