Map widgets illustrate the geographical location of a data variable. Color progression or bubble size is used to represent value in each region of the map—the darker the color, or the bigger the bubble, the higher the value. You can use map widgets to illustrate which areas within selected locations have the most or least data. For example, where in the world do you gain the most page views.
| REQUIRED USER ROLE | |
|---|---|
| To create a widget | Admin and Power User |
- Navigate to Visualize.
- Select the dashboard and then the page you want to add a widget to.
- To edit the selected page, click the pencil icon.
- To add a new widget, click the + icon.
- Within the Charts section, click Maps.
A new map widget is added to your page. These editing options are available within the Data tab:
- Name — Name your widgets so that you can easily find your widget when using other features in the system, such as Advanced Export. You can click the eye icon next to the widget name to hide your widget title from displaying on the page. Select the type of map you want to use. To see additional options, such as different regions or countries, click More.
- Map — Alternatively, you can select or search for the country or region you want to display.
- Additional Granularity — Add further granularity to the map by
breaking it down by City or Zip Code. If selected, these options are available:
- Load when zoomed — Selecting this checkbox aggregates the data at the city or ZIP code level when zoomed in to an area. You can select to load all the granularity levels even when you’re not zoomed in. However, this selection adds a limit of up to 400 measurement values to ensure that the widget’s performance stays intact.
- Include Partially Mapped Data — By default, Marketing Cloud Intelligence cleans unknown data. When you select this checkbox, you add this data back in and include the data in the map widget.
- Add data to the map widget. You can add one measurement and one dimension. Select the
measurement you want to display by clicking the + icon. A dimension is automatically selected
depending on the map you add. However, you can remove the selected dimension and add a
different one.Note When you select a regional map, a filter is automatically added to the widget to filter the data to the countries within the region. You can add or remove countries within the filter tab.
After you finish configuring the Data tab, you can configure the Design tab. These options are available:
- Show Legend — Select this checkbox to display a bar in the Y axis that illustrates the meaning of the color gradient within the map widget.
- Floating Legend — Select this checkbox to make the legend float on top of the map. When this checkbox isn’t selected, the legend appears static underneath the map.
- Legend Position — Select where you want your legend to appear within the widget. You can position the legend horizontally or vertically.
- Data Layer Style — Select how the geolocations you have data for are
displayed. These suboptions are available:
- Area — Colors the entire area that has data. The more data you have in the geolocation, the stronger the color is.
- Bubbles — Bubbles appear in the center of the area you have data. The more data you have in the geolocation, the larger and more opaque the bubble is.
After you finish customizing your map widget, these options are available while viewing the widget:
- You can double-click an area on the map to zoom in to that area. There are also zoom in and
zoom out buttons in the widget. Note If an admin user saves the page while the widget is zoomed in, the widget remains zoomed in.
- You can search for specific areas within the search bar in the widget. The results in the dropdown list are sorted by the measurement value, so you can always find the most impactful regions fast.
