Set Up the Search Keyword Insights App

To optimize keywords based on their organic insights, the Search Keyword Insights app shows which organic search terms are included in paid keywords and which aren’t. Setting up the app involves connecting your SEO and SEM data and applying filters.

REQUIRED USER ROLE
To install Marketplace apps Admin

To install the Search Keyword Insights app, you need:

  • For the organic side (SEO) — Google Search Console data stream with query level data. You can also add this data stream via the app.
    Note
Note If the data stream doesn’t have query level data, Marketing Cloud Intelligence automatically reprocesses it during the installation so it includes query level data.
  • For the paid side (SEM) — Any keyword-level data, including match type. Common supported sources include Google Ads, Google Search 360, and TotalConnect.
  1. Install the Search Keyword Insights app.
    1. In Marketing Cloud Intelligence, on the Marketplace tab, select Apps.
    2. Select the app, and then click Get it Now.
    3. To begin, click Start.
  2. Connect your SEO data from Google Search Console. This data is your organic data.
    1. To create a data stream, click Connect a new stream. If you don’t have any existing Google Search Console data streams, then you can only create a data stream.
    2. To connect to an existing data stream, click Connect existing streams.
      Note
      Note
      • If the data stream doesn’t have query level data, the data stream is reprocessed automatically for you.
      • By default, the app takes the full date range that exists in the chosen data stream up to 2 years.
    3. Click Next.
  3. Connect your SEM data.
    1. By default, the system recognizes mapped fields and shows them because all data that is mapped to the Search Keywords data stream type appears as SEM data. These data sources are pulled: TotalConnect, Bing Ads, Google Adwords, and Google DS (Google Search 360). If you have a non-supported data source, such as Pinterest Ads, SEM data isn’t pulled. There are nine available fields. Six are mandatory and three are optional.
    2. To change a field, click the down arrow, and then select another field. Note: If you add more fields, additional insights are added in the run mode. However, no extra rows are added.
    3. To apply a filter to reduce the data that’s being pulled, click Filters. For example, if you have Bing and Google Ads as paid sources and you don’t want to add Bing’s data to the app, create a filter by choosing a source that contains the word Google.
  4. To complete the installation, click Finish.
