Prerequisites
To connect to the Synthesio API, you need a valid username and password.
Details
- The connector retrieves Mentions data that is available under the Listen section in the Synthesio platform.
- Breakdowns available under the Analyze section can be generated using the Mentions attributes in the platform. For example, an equivalent view of the Gender breakdown found in the ‘Demographic’ page can be created using the ‘Social Mention Author Gender’ Dimension and the ‘Social Mention Count’ Measurement.
- In some Mentions, some fields may be missing due to copyright rules:
- For Mentions from some websites, the Content field won’t be provided.
- For Twitter mentions, all information provided by Twitter is hidden. Only Synthesio additions are available.
- Due to these limitations and the fact that currently, the retrieved data has no corresponding view in Synthesio, minor inconsistencies may occur.
- To validate your data, compare it to the data exported from the ‘Mentions (beta)’ section. The exported file includes all the relevant ‘Mentions’ which is closest to the data retrieved by the API.
General Setup
- After you’ve logged into your Synthesio account, you can now select the Dashboard and Topics you’re pulling data for.
- After you select a Dashboard, all the Topics/Subtopics for that Dashboard appear in the Topics dropdown list.
- You can select a single topic, multiple topics, or none if you want to retrieve all the topics and subtopics for the selected Dashboard.
Retrieving Topics that have a large number of posts can cause timeouts — try reducing the number of topics per Data Stream.
Extended Properties
- Get Mention Level Data - Select this checkbox to retrieve mention level data, such as the Mention ID, Text, Author, etc. This checkbox is selected by default.
How to QA Your Data
- Create the desired report in the Synthesio UI for the required date range. (Currently, only Facebook reports can be retrieved.)
- Next, process the relevant Data Stream in Marketing Cloud Intelligence for the same date range.
- Create a Report/Table Widget/Pivot Table within Marketing Cloud Intelligence containing the same Dimensions and Measurements for the same report and date range.
- Compare the Measurement Totals and make sure they’re aligned.
