Conversion API (CAPI) activation targets send online and offline conversion events from a data model object (DMO) to supported advertising platforms. CAPI uses streaming DMO activation instead of audience segment activation.

CAPI Activation Limits and Considerations
- Each CAPI streaming activation sends up to 30,000 events. When an activation exceeds the limit, Data 360 truncates the activation file and drops the remaining events. To increase the limit to up to 200,000 events, contact your Salesforce account executive.
- CAPI uses streaming DMO activation. You select a data model object (DMO) as the event source. You can’t activate a segment to a CAPI target.
- Each advertising platform enforces API rate limits and a maximum event lookback window. The platform rejects events that exceed its rate limit or fall outside its lookback window.
- Data 360 sends events to the partner platform continuously, at a fixed interval of 5 seconds.
- To expand the customer records available for identity enrichment, create a data graph and associate it with the CAPI activation. See Data Graphs.
- Mapping optional attributes such as first name, last name, country code, and external IDs improves user match rates on the partner platform.
