Conduct validation tests to certify a supported vendor's legacy scanner for the POS app.
Conduct validation tests across all supported interfaces (Bluetooth and USB). Create separate test cases for each interface. For a comprehensive list of test cases, please refer to Files. If a scanner require a USB connection using Star or Epson printers, validate compatibility with both printer brands.
- Confirm that the setup process is correct.
-
For USB scanners requiring a printer connection.
- Test the printer using the vendor’s app (TM Utility for Epson and StarQuickSetup for Star) available on the App Store.
- Connect to the printer and perform printer operations followed by a scan test.
-
If using an Epson printer and the scanner beeps upon scanning but the barcode does not appear in the app, perform the following:
- Locate the Quick Start Guide for the Zebra scanner model (search online if necessary).
- Scan the Set Defaults or Set Factory Defaults barcode.
- Scan the USB Keyboard HID barcode.
- Scan the Add Enter Key, CR/LF, or Carriage Return / Line Feed barcode (depending on the model, this could be one barcode or a sequence for setting the Enter Key).
-
For non-USB scanners
- Test the scanner using the vendor app (SocketMobileCompanion for Socket and Zebra Scanner Control for Zebra) available on the App Store.
- Connect to the scanner and check scanning operation.
If the setup is correct but problems persist, verify whether there is an open POS bug. If the issue remains unresolved, contact Salesforce Customer Support.
