Which Salesforce Commerce Product Do I Have?
If you configured your store to display only the parent product on the page, the search results show just the parent product name. If you opt to show only the best matching product, the results display either the variation product name or the parent product name, depending on which one best matches the shopper’s search. If you opted to show all the variations of the parent product, the results display the names of all variation products. To help avoid confusion in search, sort, or filter results, use these guidelines.
- Include the base stock-keeping unit (SKU) in the name of each parent.
- When naming variation products, include the name of the parent variation as a prefix and a combination of the associated variations and the variation SKU.
- When creating descriptions for product variations, use a combination of the parent product description and information specific to the product variation.
- Make sure the product name field doesn't exceed 255 characters.
For example, you have two ski goggle parent products with two attributes: Size (S, M, L) and Lens Color (black, blue, green, orange, red, pink). This table provides suggestions for naming the parent products and their medium (M) and large (L), red-lensed variations.
| Parent Product Name | Variation Product Names |
|---|---|
| Ski Pro Slalom Snow Goggles, SKU: 123456 |
|
| Ski Pro Super-G Snow Goggles, SKU: 456789 |
