Which Salesforce Commerce Product Do I Have?
As you set up your promotion, here are some key things to consider.
- Is the promotion automatic or manual? Automatic promotions apply to all eligible carts. Manual promotions require a coupon code that the customer enters.
- Who is it for? Use segments to associate your promotion with one or more stores and, if necessary, specific buyer groups.
- What will the customer receive? Specify which products to target and how much to deduct from the price. When you target a product bundle, you can only promote bundles at the parent level.
- What must a customer purchase to receive the promotion? Use promotion tiers and qualifier rules to set quantity or price minimums. Child products within a bundle can’t contribute to qualifying criteria for a promotion.
- How do you want your promotion to appear to customers? Customize your cart page and other details in Experience Builder.
Usage Notes
- The Promotion object is shared between Commerce, Loyalty, and Retail Execution platforms in Salesforce.
- Customers are eligible for 24 product-level promotions and one order-level promotion per cart. This limit includes a maximum of two coupons.
- Each line item in a cart is eligible for only one class-exclusive product-level promotion. This behavior can be customized via the Promotion Exclusivity field. However, note that if you create multiple promotions with the same qualifying criteria, it’s possible for a single line item to qualify an order for multiple product promotions regardless of class exclusivity. For example, if you create a “buy one, get one” promotion and a “buy one, get 15% off shipping” promotion with the same qualifying item, “Tote Bag,” then the “Tote Bag” qualifies an order for both promotions regardless of whether one or both have class exclusivity. See Prioritizing Promotions
- If a cart includes an item with a negative price value, the cart isn’t eligible for a promotion.
- Promotions aren’t evaluated or applied for carts that contain more than 10,000 items. See Increase Cart Size Limits for a B2B Store.
- Configuring many category-based promotions can slow performance, especially for carts with 250 or more items or hierarchies with 15,000 or more categories. Performance depends on promotion setup, category hierarchy, and cart size.
- (Beta) Product-level promotions apply to subscription products across purchase, amendment, and renewal cycles. Cart-level promotions aren’t supported for subscription products. For considerations, see Considerations for Using Commerce Subscriptions.
- If a customer reorders an order that qualified for a bonus product promotion, the bonus product is added to the cart again for each reorder that meets the promotion criteria. The bonus product is also added to the customer’s cart as a regular cart item. The regular cart item is priced based on the product’s configuration. A customer can remove the regular cart item from their cart but not the additional bonus product.
- Add one bonus product per promotion. You can’t configure a promotion to offer multiple units of a bonus product.
- Product quantity rules don’t apply to bonus products. If a product has a minimum quantity rule, choose a different product for your bonus promotion.
