Orphaned Payments in Your B2B Commerce Store

Orphan Payments Sweeper automatically reverses or refunds payments that were authorized or captured at checkout but never tied to a completed order. The sweeper prevents funds from remaining stranded when a checkout is interrupted or abandoned. For abandoned authorized payments, the sweeper reverses the authorization or refunds the captured amount. The number of days required for the reversal or refund depends on the payment method.

Note
Note To turn on the Orphan Payments Sweeper feature, contact Salesforce Customer Support. The sweeper supports only native Salesforce Payments.

We don’t recommend the sweeper for stores with custom checkout logic, custom payment integrations, or extensions built on Salesforce Checkout. After it’s enabled, the sweeper runs on an automatic recurring schedule that isn't configurable.

The sweeper skips payments tied to completed orders, payments that have failed, voided, or fully refunded, or payments processed through third-party gateways or non-Salesforce Payments integrations. The sweeper also doesn’t act on checkouts that are actively being finalized.

We recommend you test the sweeper thoroughly in a test org before turning it on in production. Validate against the payment methods your store offers.
