B2C Commerce stores images in three static content locations, depending on image type.
The static content location depends on the image type:
- Catalog
- Non-catalog
- Content library
Which Salesforce Commerce Product Do I Have?
In B2C Commerce, each catalog has one image location. The location is either:
- Internal: Stores the image files with the catalog.
- External: Stores the image files on another host.
A new catalog has an internal image location with these default settings:
- Base path:
/ - View types: large, medium, small, and swatch
- Alt text and title:
${productname}, which inserts the product name - No catalog-level variation attribute
Each location has its own directory and replication task. After you assign internal images, replicate the catalog static content: Replication Tasks > Sites > Catalogs > (Your Catalog).
An external image is not a file in that directory, so do not replicate image files for an external location.
| Image Type | Examples | Location | Subfolder Structure | Staging/ Replication |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Catalog | product, category, option, and recommendation images |
Within the catalog's own static content directory:
|
Arbitrary | Can be staged using the Replication Task "Replication Tasks > Sites > Catalogs > (Your Catalog)". |
| Non-catalog | custom object, slot (type HTML), promotion, and store images |
Within the organization ("Sites") static content directory:
|
Arbitrary | Can be staged using the Replication Task "Replication Tasks > Sites > Static Content". |
| Content | content assets |
located within its own site-specific content library directory:
|
Arbitrary | Can be staged using the Replication Task "Replication Tasks > (Your Site) > Content Library". |
