Create an A/B Test for B2C Commerce

Create A/B tests with multiple user groups, including a control group, and assign promotions, slot configurations, or category sorting rule overrides to each experience.

  1. In Business Manager, go to the App Launcher App Launcher, and select Merchant Tools | site | Site Preferences | A/B Test Preferences.
  2. Turn on A/B testing for the instance type for your site, and enable all relevant A/B test settings.
  3. Go to Online Marketing | A/B Tests, and click New.
To modify an existing test, click the name in the A/B tests list.
  4. On the A/B test page, under General Information, add values for each field.
    • A/B Test ID—enter a unique ID or accept the automatically generated one.
    • Enable A/B Test—select this checkbox to turn on the test.
    • Description (Optional)—enter a description for the A/B test.
    • Email Addresses (for Notifications)—enter email address for notifications. Emails are sent hourly.
    • Tags—enter one or more tags, separated by a comma. Use tags to group similar tests and find them easily in the A/B dashboard.
    • Participation Trigger—enter the event that initiates the A/B test from the dropdown list. If you select Category Page View, enter a category in the Categories. If you select Pipeline Call, enter a pipeline in the Pipeline field.
    • Participation Expiration—enter when participants expire from the test.
    • Key Metrics—select the metrics to track for this test.
  5. Under Scheduling, specify the start and end date and time.
An A/B test can last up to 90 days.
  6. Under Qualifiers, select the plus sign to open the Select Customer Groups page.
If you require membership in all selected customer groups, select Qualifying Customer Must Belong to All Selected Customer Groups. If you don't select the checkbox, membership in only one customer group qualifies the customer.
  7. Add the customer groups to include in the test.
To search for a group, type the name in the search field or select one or more groups from the list.
  8. Save your changes.
Two other tabs, Segments and Results, become available.
