Create a Search Index Rebuild Schedule

Use an index schedule to rebuild an index automatically and regularly in B2C Commerce.

Watch this video to see how to rebuild search indexes. The video includes information about creating a search index rebuild schedule.

If you can’t watch the video in full screen, open this link in a new tab: Rebuild Search Indexes.

Scheduled indexing is available in Staging, Production, and Development instances. Cloud boxes and Sandboxes don't support scheduled processes, so scheduled indexing features are unavailable for these instance types. Salesforce recommends rebuilding the index on a Staging instance and then replicating the updated index from Staging to Production. To avoid performance issues, avoid scheduling index rebuilds or using incremental indexing on a Production instance. The search index rebuilds only when the system detects index changes.

Note
Note We recommend that you turn off scheduled indexing during data replication.
  1. Click App Launcher App Launcher, and then select site | Merchant Tools | Search | Search Index Rebuild Schedule.
  2. On the Search Index Rebuild Schedule page, select the day of the week and time you want the indexing to start in the From field. Make sure that the time includes AM or PM.
We recommend that you turn off scheduled rebuilding during data replication, because the rebuilding can affect the replication process.
  3. Use the Every field to specify how often you want the rebuilding to occur.

How often you rebuild depends on your setup and data. Key factors include whether you have incremental indexing enabled, how often your product data changes, and the types of changes you make.

  4. Click Apply to save any configuration changes.
  5. Click Run Now to run the search index update immediately.
If you schedule a daily index rebuild, remember that only one rebuild per day is allowed. To rebuild more than once per day, use manual indexing. If you rebuild an index that other indexes depend on, all dependent indexes rebuild in the correct order.
