Each workspace contains the tools needed for data analysis, including data connections, a semantic model builder and metric creator, and visualization tools to share findings with others.
You can create or add existing assets to associate them with a workspace, including:
- Connections to data model objects (DMOs) and data lake objects (DLOs) in Data Cloud
- Semantic models, either reused from Data Cloud or built in your workspace
- Data visualizations
- Dashboards
- Existing calculated insights objects (CIOs)
- Uploaded .csv data
Workspace assets can be used to build more analytical assets or reused in other workspaces.
- Analyze Data in Tableau Next Workspaces
Inside a workspace, assets are organized by type. The list view shows your available workspace assets in real time. The layers of the workspace add context about the building blocks of workspace assets, so an analyst has the information needed to answer questions with data. - Create a Workspace in Tableau Next
Everything in Tableau Next begins in a workspace. To create an analytical asset in Tableau Next, you must start in a workspace. - Create or Add an Asset in a Workspace
Assets can be created within a workspace, or you can add an existing asset to your workspace or from Data Data 360 if the administrator has made these assets visible. - Edit or Delete a Workspace in Tableau Next
Update a workspace name and description, or delete the workspace and its assets altogether. If the workspace reused an asset from somewhere else, deleting the workspace won't affect the original asset.
