Use Proactive Intelligence in Tableau Next to Monitor Data and Take Action

Turn hindsight into foresight with proactive intelligence features in Tableau Next. With data alerting, you stay on top of changes to your data, whether it’s progress to a goal, month-over-month changes, or any change in your dataset. Data alerts help you monitor what you know and care about while autonomous insights help you anticipate important events you might not have been looking for—all while spending less time asking questions and searching dashboards for answers.

Get data alerts delivered right where you’re working—in Tableau Next, email, or Slack. Or create scheduled alerts for specific events from a Tableau Next metric.
  • Get Email Data Alerts for Metrics in Tableau Next
Create alerts to monitor a metric’s progress towards a goal or threshold, to look out for unusual changes, or to watch period-over-period changes. When you create a metric alert in Tableau Next, notifications are sent to your email and appear under the notifications icon (bell) in Tableau Next.
  • Get Custom Data Alerts in Slack with Agentforce in Tableau Next or Tableau Next MCP
Receive alerts about your queries for your data or for custom metric alerts by using Tableau Next Model Context Protocol (MCP) in Slack, or ask Agentforce to alert you when specific conditions are met. To create alerts for queries about your semantic data model (SDM), make sure that you have access to the SDM.
  • Manage Data Alerts in Tableau Next
When you receive a data alert, click the notification to view more information about the alert or log in to Tableau Next to manage your alerts. If the alert was sent by Agentforce or by Tableau Next model context protocol (MCP) in Slack, you can also ask follow-up questions. Depending on the type of alert, notifications are sent to desktop, mobile, or Slack. You can modify or delete your alerts at any time.
