Date and Datetime Formats in Tableau Next

A field with date or datetime data must be assigned a date and time format. This format is used when parsing the data and writing to the data lake object (DLO).

Tableau Next suggests the applicable data type and format by reviewing a sample of the incoming raw data. You can override the data type by customizing the object prior to its creation, but it is your responsibility to review your data and assign the appropriate data type and format. If you choose to override a date type to a datetime or a datetime to a date type, make sure the format stays the same so that it still reflects the format in the raw data.

Overrides are only available for file-based connectors (.csv and .xlsx files).
