Use a Parameter with a Dynamic Value Type

In this example a parameter is added to enable a dashboard filter to update a component chart by Industry selections.

Required Editions

Available in Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.
Available with CRM Analytics, which is available for an extra cost in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions. Also available in Developer Edition.
User Permissions Needed
To create a parameter: Create and Edit Analytics Dashboards
Dashboard with a filter and component with a bar chart.
  1. Create a parameter in the component widget and copy its parameter ID.
  2. Add the parameter to the filter. Click the Query tab and paste the copied parameter ID to the filters value.

  3. Save the component.
  4. Edit the dashboard where the component is embedded.
  5. Click the updated component widget and click the Parameters tab.

  6. Click the parameter you created.

  7. Select Dynamic from the Value Type dropdown menu.

  8. Click Choose Query and select the filter query for the component to interact with.

  9. Select a field value from the New Value menu that the component filters by.
  10. Select an interaction type then click Update.
  11. Dashboard filter selections now update the component.
