# Tableau Server SAML Service

For Tableau Server installations that have site-specific SAML enabled, there will also be a SAML Service instance running on each node that is configured with Application Server. This service is automatically configured when site-specific SAML has been enabled on the server.

- In version 2023.1.x and later, SAML Service on Tableau Server isn’t displayed until site SAML is enabled.
- In version 2022.3.x and earlier, SAML Service on Tableau Server is shown as stopped unless site SAML is enabled.

<table style="width: 100%;mc-table-style: url('Resources/TableStyles/Basic-Border.css');" class="TableStyle-Basic-Border" cellspacing="0"><colgroup><col class="TableStyle-Basic-Border-Column-Column1"><col class="TableStyle-Basic-Border-Column-Column1"></colgroup><tbody><tr class="TableStyle-Basic-Border-Body-Body1"><td class="TableStyle-Basic-Border-BodyE-Column1-Body1"><strong>Process</strong></td><td class="TableStyle-Basic-Border-BodyD-Column1-Body1"><p> SAML Service</p></td></tr><tr class="TableStyle-Basic-Border-Body-Body1"><td class="TableStyle-Basic-Border-BodyE-Column1-Body1"><strong>Status</strong></td><td class="TableStyle-Basic-Border-BodyD-Column1-Body1">Status of the SAML Service process is not visible on the Status Page. Use the TSM&nbsp;CLI to view status. For more information, see <a href="https://help.tableau.com/v0.0/server-linux/en-gb/service_viewstatus.htm" class="xref">View Server Process Status</a></td></tr><tr class="TableStyle-Basic-Border-Body-Body1"><td class="TableStyle-Basic-Border-BodyB-Column1-Body1"><strong>Logging</strong></td><td class="TableStyle-Basic-Border-BodyA-Column1-Body1">Logs generated by the SAML Service process are located in <code><code>/var/opt/tableau/tableau_server/data/tabsvc/logs/</code>samlservice</code>. For more information, see <a href="https://help.tableau.com/v0.0/server-linux/en-gb/logs_loc.htm" class="xref">Tableau Server Logs and Log File Locations</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

If this process goes into a failed state, then users will not be able to sign in to Tableau Server if the user request is routed to an Application Server on this node. Like other processes, when a node containing the SAML Service fails, the failed process should automatically restart within seconds.
