# Step 5: Set Up and Manage Slack and Metric Insight Summaries

**Who does this step?** Tableau Next Admin, Salesforce Admin, Slack Admin or Slack Org Owner

**About this step:** While optional, connecting Slack and metric insight summaries lets users share links with previews of Tableau Next metrics in Slack.

## Enable Slack Integration for Tableau Next

**Why:** For sharing dashboards and metrics via Slack.

**Note:** Connecting Slack to Salesforce requires the Slack Org Owner or Admin to coordinate with the Salesforce Admin.

How to do it

1. [Connect Slack to Salesforce](https://slack.com/help/articles/30754346665747-Connect-Salesforce-and-Slack#connect-slack-to-salesforce).
    
    1. In Slack: Request a Salesforce connection in Slack
    2. In Salesforce: Approve the request in Salesforce
    3. In Slack: Activate the connection in Slack
2. In Tableau Next, click Administration, and then click Settings.
3. On the General page, confirm that Collaborate with Slack and Tableau Next is enabled.

## Enable Metric Insight Summaries

**Why:** Metric Insight Summaries give users insights about Tableau Next metrics that they follow.

How to do it

1. Enable Metric Insight Summaries
    
    1. In Tableau Next, click Administration, and then click Settings.
    2. On the General page, enable Metric Insight Summaries.
2. Assign the Follow Tableau Next Metrics user permission.
    
    1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Users, and then select Users.
    2. Select a user.
    3. Click Edit.
    4. Enable the Follow Tableau Next Metrics user permission.
    5. Click Save.
