# Using Field and Filter Values in Action Names

In addition to using field, parameter, and filter values in URLs, you can use this information as variables in the action names. The name of the action appears on the context menu when an action is opened using the menu. Using field and filter variables in the name is useful in making the action specific to the selected mark. In a view showing property information, you could name a URL action ‘Show satellite image of <Address>’. When you right-click (control-click on Mac) a specific mark, the <Address> tag is replaced with the location value associated with that mark.

1. In the Add Action dialog box, begin typing the name for the action.
2. Place the cursor where you want to insert the field or filter value.
3. Click the arrow to the right of the text box and select the field or filter you want to add as a variable. The field or filter name is added between angle brackets.
