# Message Logging

The Message Logging policy logs custom messages using information from incoming requests, responses from the backend, or information from other policies applied to the same API endpoint.

### What’s New

- Message Logging policy definition version 2.0.3 is now supported by Omni Gateway.
- This release updates policy metadata only. There’s no functional change.

### What’s New

- The policy now supports data masking to detect and mask personally identifiable information (PII), such as email addresses, in log messages before they are written. You can select built-in PII types (Email, US SSN, Credit Card, and Phone Number) or add custom regex patterns. Request and response bodies are forwarded to the upstream service unchanged.
- Message Logging policy implementation version x.x.x is now supported by Omni Gateway.
- Message Logging policy definition version x.x.x is now supported by Omni Gateway.
